Adult Faith Formation continues to help parishioners of St. Peter to develop, grow and mature in their faith and spirituality as a Catholic.
Annulment Field Advocate supports the parishioners at St. Peter the Apostle Church. As a field advocate she will pray with you, talk with you and/or review your documents prior to submission to the Tribunal. Carol is there to walk with you through the Annulment Process. This is a time of healing that helps you put your life back together as a final step in “letting go” of a former relationship and gives you the freedom to move ahead.
What is a declaration of nullity
A declaration of nullity (sometimes referred to as an annulment or a declaration of invalidity) is a statement by the Catholic Church that at the time two people exchanged marital consent, there was something essential missing that prevented a valid marriage bond from being formed. The three essential things that are necessary for valid marital consent is the capacity of the parties for making such a commitment and fulfilling the obligation of marriage, their intention to enter into marriage as the Church understands marriage, and their knowledge both of marriage itself and of the person they are marrying.
Rite of Christian Initiation
The Rite of Christian Initiation is the process by which the Catholic Church initiates new members. Through prayerful study of Scripture and the Tradition from which our Catholic faith grows, candidates are guided over a period of time to embrace the faith. This journey of faith is celebrated in stages. Each stage is celebrated with the parish community at the Sunday liturgy. The sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated during the Easter season.
This journey recognizes that growth in faith needs to take place within a caring Christian community. Therefore, many parishioners are involved in RCI as catechists and parish sponsors; while others offer hospitality or participate as liturgists and musicians. This process of conversion can take several months or several years depending on the needs of the individual. Adults or school-age children who have not been baptized, adults who have been baptized in another Christian tradition, or those who were baptized Catholic but never had the opportunity to complete their initiation are welcome to the process.
